Billy J. McCarroll was born in Santa Barbara, Cal. in 1937. In 1969, McCarroll completed his MA at California State University, and two years later joined the Department of Art at the University of Lethbridge. McCarroll taught printmaking, drawing and painting from 1971 to 1994 and was director/curator at the University of Lethbridge Art Gallery from 1972 to 1981, during the formative years of the collection. McCarroll’s work can be found in the collections of the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, the Glenbow Museum, Canada Council Art Bank, the Nickle Galleries, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, the Banff Centre for the Arts, Global Affairs Canada – Visual Art
Collection, and many more.
